Q: What if a student does not have transportation?

It depends on the high school; some Tehama County schools can provide transportation during school hours. Ask your school coordinator.

Q: Is there a penalty for not finishing the apprenticeship?

No. Apprentices still in high school simply return to a regular class schedule.

What Students & Families Ask

How much will I earn?

Pay depends on the employer; most apprentices start at minimum wage, with raises tied to progress through the registered wage schedule.

Is there an age requirement?

In most cases apprentices need to be 18. A few employers may be able to hire a minor — program staff will match you appropriately.

How long is the program?

2,000 hours. Seniors work up to 20 hours a week on a block schedule, then finish their hours over the next 12–18 months as a full-time employee.
